Wiggins Takes Lead In Washington State Supreme Court Race
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Charlie Wiggins has taken the lead over incumbent Justice Richard Sanders in the race for state Supreme Court.
Wiggins led by 3,517 votes Tuesday afternoon following an update from the state's most populous county, King. Wiggins holds 50.1 percent of the vote, compared to Sanders' 49.9 percent.
Sanders, who is seeking his fourth term, had led the race since election night, but his lead had dwindled to less than 4,000 votes by Monday night.
Wiggins is being helped by a big majority in King County, which posted 45,000 votes Tuesday. Wiggins leads there by a 58 percent to 41 percent margin. A handful of other counties were set to update totals as well Tuesday.
