Homecoming Celebration By Soldier, Wife Ends In DUI Arrests
TACOMA, Wash. - What started out as a homecoming celebration for a young Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier and his wife ended up with both of them arrested for investigation of drunken driving.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Brandy Kessler says a military police officer spotted an erratic driver early Sunday on Interstate 5 and notified the State Patrol. A trooper stopped the car in front of the couple's apartment complex and determined both husband and wife were intoxicated.
Kessler says 21-year-old Adam King was arrested for investigation of drunken driving. His wife Sara King was allowed to go to her apartment. But when the trooper who processed King's paperwork was later escorting him outside to be released, Kessler says the State Patrol officer spotted the wife arriving in a different vehicle to pick him up. She was arrested.
The husband recently returned from an overseas deployment.
