Spokane Valley Toddler Found Dead In Toy Box

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy after his parent found the toddler dead in a toy box on Tuesday.

Two adults were inside a Spokane Valley home working when they realized they had not seen the toddler in 30 minutes, according the Sheriff's Office.

The adults searched the home and several areas outside.  They found the body of the boy in a basement play area.

The toddler was found in a toy box approximately 16 inches x 15 inches x 18 inches.  The box had a hinged lid that shut on the toddler.  A clasped bracket covered a ring for a padlock that might have trapped the 4-year-old inside, according to authorities.

The Sheriff's Office says the boy's father performed CPR on the child but was unable to revive him.
