Washington DOT Worker Killed By Falling Tree
PRESTON, Wash. (AP) - A veteran Washington State Department of Transportation worker has died after behind hit by a falling tree during a rain storm.
WSDOT Maintenance Superintendent Jim McBride says the accident occurred late Sunday night on Highway 203 just south of Carnation. Department spokeswoman Kris Olsen identifies the man as 66-year-old Billy Rhynalds, a 12-year veteran of the department.
McBride says he was setting up safety cones to alert motorists to power lines knocked down by the storm when the tree fell on his truck and killed him.
