While the men battle the Gaels in Spokane Thursday night, the Gonzaga's women's team will be in sunny Southern California playing Saint Mary's in Moraga. The Zags (17-4, 5-0), unlike their male counterparts, go into Thursday's riding a high, you could say.>>

Matchup with No. 24 Saint Mary's Looms Large for Zags

SPOKANE, Wash. - There's a tent city springing up on the campus of Gonzaga in north Spokane. Students began setting up Tuesday in order get a prime seat for Thursday's showdown with Saint Mary's. Make that WCC-leading Saint Mary's.

Sounds a little odd, doesn't it - the Gaels in first place instead of the Zags? They come into Thursday's game with a perfect 5-0 record in league play. The Bulldogs are an unfamiliar 3-2 and in a tie for third place with Santa Clara.

Head coach Mark Few knows Thursday's game is a big one, and he's happy to playing it at McCarthey Athletic Center.

"It's nice to have anybody at home, it's nice to play at home because we just experienced two hard games on the road," he said.

Two hard games on the road is right. The Zags lost back-to-back conference games for the first time since the year 2000. They lost at Santa Clara, then dropped a close one to San Francisco two days later.

Thursday's game is at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. KHQ will be there as well, covering the game for KHQ Local News 11@11 and SWXRightNow.com.
