SPD: 3 Arrested For Armed Robbery

NEWS RELEASE FROM SPD: On 2/5/11 around 2100 hours officers responded to an armed robbery in the area of 36th and Fiske. During the initial contact with the victim, Matthew Bavandpouri, officers learned that Bavandpouri and a female friend were picking up a sweater that the friend left at a party in a nearby apartment.

They called a male they knew as "Neville" after being told he had her sweater. He agreed to meet them outside of the apartment.

Once at the apartment a male approached their vehicle, demanded money and produced a pistol. Bavandpouri gave the male an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect took off running.

Officer Kendall and his K-9, Stryder, arrived and started a track for the suspect.  More information obtained led the officers to a specific apartment number.

While waiting for officers to arrive and assist, a male walked out of the apartment.  He was detained until further investigation of the incident.

Two more males exited the apartment and were also detained.

Bavandpouri identified one of the three males (a juvenile male) as the male that robbed him.  The friend also identified the same male.  The other two males were identified as, Carson Kinchen (18 years) and Neville Davenport (21 years).

As the story unfolded, officers learned that Bavandpouri and the female friend went to the apartment to buy illegal drugs from Davenport.  The story about the sweater was made up.

Officers also learned the robbery was set up and when Davenport received the call that Bavandpouri and his friend were close by, the juvenile male walked up to the car carrying a gun.

The juvenile male stated he had the gun but never displayed it.  He took money from Bavandpouri and ran.

During a consent search of the apartment, officers located a gun, money, illegal drugs and other items of evidentiary value.  All items were placed on property as evidence.

Davenport, Kinchen and the juvenile male were arrested and booked for Robbery 1st Degree and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Bavandpouri was also arrested for Making False or Misleading Statements to a public servant.

Thanks to the dedication of these officers, three males were arrested for crimes that took place within 1000 feet of an elementary school.
