Police: Man Driving Van Follows Girl Inside Restaurant

>>>UPDATE: Police tell us they found the man in question and talked to him. He was released a short time later. We do not know his name, if we get a press release we'll post it.

RATHDRUM, Idaho - There's a new complaint of child enticement involving someone driving a blue van in Kootenai County.

Rathdrum police say an 8-year-old girl was walking home from John Brown Elementary on Monday when she noticed a blue van slowly following her. She became frightened and went into a nearby restaurant. The driver of the van pulled into the parking lot and followed her inside. The girl says the man didn't say anything to her but stared at her from across the room. He then ordered some food and walked out the door.

The girl gave a description of the man to police as an older man with long gray hair and wearing a flannel shirt. He was driving a blue, passenger-type van.

There have been several child enticement complaints throughout Kootenai County in the last several months. Previous reports have described the van as blue with gray striping however the girl did not mention to police about a gray stripe in this particular incident.

If you have any information about this case you are encouraged to call Rathdrum Police at (208) 687-0711.
