SPOKANE, Wash. - On Monday night the Spokane city council was expected to approve nearly a million dollars for new police cars. The $476,916.23 bid was already approved by the Public Safety Committee.
The money will buy 20 new Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicles. This is part of an annual fleet replacement program, to update the city's fleet of vehicles that are usually kept until they reach 75 to 100 thousand miles.
This year the mayor cut the budget in half to save funds for the cash strapped city. The "low-bid" contract will be fulfilled by local auto dealer Wendle Motors.
