UPDATE: Woman Driving SUV Goes Airborne & Crashes Into Latah Creek

UPDATED NEWS RELEASE: A summons request was delivered to the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office today requesting that former newscaster Debra Wilde be charged with Driving while Under the Influence of Alcohol.

On January 30th deputies were sent to the 10300 block of South Hangman Valley Road after a citizen reported that a woman was trapped in an SUV in the middle of Latah Creek.

Their investigation revealed that 60-year-old Wilde had lost control of her 2002 Jeep Cherokee and struck a guardrail. The vehicle jumped the barrier, went down an embankment and then traveled approximately 60 yards to enter the swollen creek.

After Wilde was rescued, deputies noted her exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment. A voluntary blood draw was performed at a local hospital during a check for injuries. The sample was submitted to the Washington State Toxicology Lab for analysis.

After receiving the blood alcohol results last week, Detective Dave Thornburg determined there was probable cause for Wilde's arrest and authored the summons request.
