Mom: A Teacher Taped My 7-Year-Old Son To A Classroom Chair!
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - A Washington mother who says a teacher taped her 7-year-old son to a classroom chair is angry and calls the incident "child endangerment."
Jennifer Foux of Lacey tells The Olympian her son recounted the event when he got home Tuesday, saying the Pleasant Glade Elementary School teacher called the tape "a seat belt." Foux
says the boy was embarrassed because other children laughed at him.
Foux says her son admits he was standing up during class but she doesn't think the teacher's action was appropriate.
North Thurston school district spokeswoman Courtney Schrieve says a district investigation shows the child was moving around the classroom. She says the unidentified teacher placed a piece of
masking tape across his lap to remind him to stay in his seat.
The spokeswoman describes the action as "a lapse of judgment" but adds the boy was not harmed. Schrieve says the teacher likely will be given a "letter of direction" for the future.
