It's Officially Begun! Another Iditarod Starts

Hello all, it's officially began. Yesterday, after witnessing the re-start of the 2011 Iditarod Dog Sled Race, the entire Iditarod Insider crew split up and hit the trail.

Josh Godfrey and Greg Heister cruised on over to Skewentna, which is the 2nd checkpoint along the trail. They have been up all night as mushers continued to flood in one after one.

I hitched a ride on a bush plane and took the most beautiful flight anyone could imagine. I flew into Rainy Pass checkpoint, which sits in the Alaska Range, just before sunset. The mountains let you know just how small we really are.

Here, I have been waiting for dog teams to arrive, and once they do, we will be all over it. Story after story, team after team.

Remember, if you want to see the videos that we post, follow the race in real time, and just get a taste as to what the Iditarod really is, then become an Iditarod Insider at Iditarod.com.
