Subway Tops McDonald's As Largest Food Chain

KHQ.COM - The Subway sandwich chain has officially eclipsed McDonald's as the world's largest restaurant chain in number of outlets, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Subway says it had 33,749 restaurants worldwide at the end of 2010, compared with McDonald's 32,737.

The Journal says McDonald's figures came in an SEC filing last month.

McD is taking the change of fortune philosophically, telling The Journal that it is committed to "being better, not just bigger."
