Agents Finish Searching Bomb Suspect’s Home

ADDY, Stevens County – Federal agents and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force have finished search the home of a man accused of planting a pipe bomb in downtown Spokane.

Authorities spent almost two days combing the home of Kevin Harpham, arrested Monday morning near his home in Stevens County. Authorities declined to describe, even generally, the kinds of items seized.

FBI Special Agent In-Charge Frank Harrill said authorities continue to follow leads in the case based on evidence they found in the home.

Some evidence will be sent to FBI Headquarters in Virginia to be analyzed, according to Harrill. He emphasized that while the search of Harpham's home has ended, the investigation continues.

Three workers found a backpack in downtown on January 17. Authorities said it was placed to disrupt a nearby rally to honor Martin Luther King, Jr but the device never detonated.

The US Attorney's Office is seeking at least two indictments against Harpham when the grand jury meets later this month.

Harpham is scheduled to appear in federal court on March 23 for a bond hearing.

He has no adult criminal history in Washington.
