Verizon Offering Free Calls, Texting & Multimedia Messaging To Japan

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: Verizon Wireless wants to make it easier for customers to connect with friends and family in Japan who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami. For a limited time (March 11-April 10), post-paid customers will receive free calling, text and multimedia messaging to Japan. 

In a future effort to help provide aid to the victims of this terrible natural disaster, Verizon Wireless has implemented a mobile giving program for customers looking to contribute to relief efforts in Japan.  Customers can use their mobile phones to make a $10 donation via text to the following non-profit organizations:

•       ADRA Relief: text SUPPORT to 85944

•       American Red Cross Relief: text REDCROSS to 90999

•       Convoy of Hope: text TSUNAMI or SUNAMI to  50555

•       GlobalGiving: text JAPAN to 50555

•       International Medical Corps: text MED to 80888

    SPOKANE, Wash. - A Spokane woman who was run over by a cyclist last month on the Centennial Trail has filed a lawsuit against the man she says didn’t even try to avoid smashing into her. On Sept. 22, 67-year-old Virginia Pearsall was walking near Kendall Yards with her sister when she heard someone behind her yell, “Hot pizza!” "I felt like I got hit by a truck," said Pearsall. "The impact was so great, it was unbelievable."

    TACOMA, Wash. - Washington State Patrol believes faulty brakes and speed contributed to a semi truck crash on the SR 16 interchange with northbound I-5 in Tacoma Tuesday evening.  Troopers say the truck was headed eastbound on SR 16 when it rolled on the rap to northbound I-5.  Trooper Brooke Bova tweeted photos form the scene, including one which showed the truck's brake lines tied together with a plastic grocery bag.  The
