Elderly Couple Robbed In Home

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: A couple in their 60's was robbed in their South Edgerton home Tuesday night by a white male suspect who forced his way past the wife at the front door.

The husband told Officer Walter Ryan that he was on a couch when he and his wife heard a knock at the door about 8:45 p.m. He called to his wife not to answer it, but she opened the door when she looked out and saw a man standing there.

The suspect asked for "Steve."  When she said no one by that name lived there, he pushed his way inside and confronted the husband and demanded money.

When the husband told the thief he didn't owe him any money, the suspect pushed the husband over the couch, grabbed the wife's purple purse from a closet door knob and ran from the home.

The wife had fled to a neighbor's home for help and Walter went there to interview her. He learned that her purse contained at least two credit cards, but that she was unsure what else was inside.

Officers and a K-9 team checked the area, but were unable to locate the robber who was described as being in his mid 20's, 5'06" to 5'10" tall, unshaven with dark hair and eyes. He wore a brown hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, and khaki-colored pants.

Anyone with information regarding the home-invasion robbery is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Six-year-old Denny Curran should be enjoying his last few days of summer before first grade. He should be teasing his brother, splashing in the pool, giving his parents a hard time about vegetables. Instead, Denny is dead, the victim of a horrific, freak bicycle accident that could happen to your child too. "Denny was an extraordinary child," his father Keith Curran told KHQ.
