Livestock Killed In Stevens County

KHQ.COM - The Stevens County Sheriff's Office is investigating two separate reports involving injured or killed livestock in the Tum Tum area of southern Stevens County. The first report came in on 03/31/2011, in the 5500 block of Scotts Valley Road involving the injury or death of approximately 8 small farm animals.

The animals in that case were killed in their pen. Tracks were located on scene, indicating that dogs may be responsible for the attack.

The second report came in on 04/05/2011 in the 6800 block of Hwy 291. In that report approximately 30 small farm animals were killed or injured.

Those animals were attacked in their pens as well. There were no witnesses to either of the attacks and it is uncertain at this time what dogs are responsible for the incidents.

Based on the proximity of both incidents, it is believed the same group of dogs may be involved.

Deputies have been canvassing the area for any information on the identity and location of the dogs believed to be involved. Citizens are encouraged to report any sightings of packed up dogs in that area to the Stevens County Sheriff's Office.
