EPHRATA, Wash. - A 32-year-old Ephrata man is safe after being rescued from a steep area near Lake Lenore Caves State Park.

The man became stuck during a recreational hike. He was able to use his cell phone to call 9-1-1 around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Dispatchers were able to gather information to pinpoint and direct emergency crews from Grant Co. Fire Dist. #7, Fire Dist. #5, Grant Co. sheriff's deputies, and Washington State Park rangers to the scene. In all, about 25 emergency personnel responded to assist.

Technical rescue team members located the victim about two hundred yards from where he had parked his car in a public access area. The man was not injured, but was only lightly clothed causing responders to be concerned as the evening weather turned colder.

Rescue personnel determined they would not be able to safely access the man. They then called for help from the U. S. Air Force at Fairchild Air Force Base.

The Air Force sent a helicopter rescue team, and the airmen were able to lower a rescue harness and safely remove the victim around 8 p.m.

The man was checked by AMR ambulance paramedics and is said to be in good health.

KHQ.COM - An average house cat weighs between 7-10 pounds but one Spokane woman has a cat whose size is almost unheard of. Out of the corner of your eye, Ollie might be mistaken for a dog... he's that big! Not your normal house cat, Ollie is a Savannah cat, a hybrid breed that's a cross between a serval cat and a domestic cat. So while it's not surprising that he's bigger than a domestic cat, his size is still shocking.
