WATCH IT: NIC Anti-Texting Video In National Competition

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Some students at North Idaho College are hoping a video they produced about the dangers of texting while driving is good enough to win a national competition.

Gabrielle Lewis, along with director of photography Devon Greenman, and a handful of drama club students created the film to compete in the American Lawyer Academy's Viral Video Scholarship Film Contest. Lewis wrote and directed the film.

"When I thought about this I was really trying to think about how would it feel to be that person who was put in that situation of killing somebody," said Gabrielle Lewis, producer/director.

The video is now competing against other students from all over the country. The winning video will be scored by 3 categories. 25% is from online voting. Another 25% is how many times the video clip is watched. The final 50% is voted on by the lawyers who organized the competition.

Lewis isn't trying to jinx anything by thinking too much about winning. Instead, she is just hoping people watching will appreciate the film she created and the message it is sending.

"To see how it can affect people, it's cool. And I want to share it with people."
