OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

After more than a week of diligently working to rescue Larry Marek at the Lucky Friday mine in Northern Idaho, we are heartbroken to report that we now believe Larry was under the fall of ground when it occurred and is deceased. Larry had been an employee with Hecla for more than 12 years.

Words cannot express the deep sorrow we feel at the tragic loss of our friend, colleague and 30-year veteran of the mining industry. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones and friends.
