White Smoke Sickens At Least 7 People, Rushed To Hospital With Serious Breathing Problems
DARRINGTON, Wash. (AP) - Authorities in Washington state say an unknown white smoke emanating from a trash bin sent seven people to the hospital with breathing problems.
Snohomish County Fire District 24 Commissioner Dennis Vincent says the smoke came from a trash bin when it was dumped Thursday morning into a garbage truck near City Hall in Darrington, which is 56 miles northeast of Seattle.
Vincent says the driver of the truck and six nearby people needed help breathing as they were taken to a hospital in Arlington.
Vincent said earlier that the seven were seriously injured. Cascade Valley Hospital spokeswoman Kelly Penny says five people who were treated are all stable and one person has been released.
