Level 2 Sex Offender Arrested After Teen Gets Attacked In Park

LACEY, Wash. -  A Thurston County sheriff's officer says a 16-year-old Lacey, Wash., girl was attacked while walking along a trail near her home but fought off her attacker and was able to
flee.

Lt. Greg Elwin tells KOMO-TV that a Level 2 sex offender has been arrested.

Elwin says the girl was attacked Thursday afternoon as she walked a well-traveled trail in a local park. She had spotted a man sitting near the trail and made her way past him. Then she was hit in the back of the head and knocked to the ground. Elwin says the
man tried to pin the girl to the ground but she kicked him and was able to struggle free.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call and found a wallet lying near the attack scene.

Elwin says 40-year-old Kevin J. Stark was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault with sexual motivation.
