TSA Agents Frisk 8-Month-Old, Did They Go Too Far? Join In On The LIVE Facebook Chat!

KY3.COM - Patting a baby takes on a new meaning when airport security officials do it.

The Transportation Security Administration is coming under fire after agents frisked a baby at the Kansas City International airport.

What do you think? Too far? Necessary to protect others? Should we just accept this is how things will be and move on with our lives?

Screeners at the Kansas City International Airport patted down the child on Saturday after a stroller set off alarms.  A picture of the search, taken by another passenger, went viral on Tuesday, again sparking debate on whether airport security procedures have gotten out of hand.

The Transportation Security Administration said in a statement that officers followed correct procedures by screening the baby's family after the alarm sounded.  The TSA says the family was cooperative.  The family's identity is not known.

The man who took the picture said he thought the search was extreme.  The Rev. Jacob Jester says he thought the child was about was about 8 months old. >>CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO

HERE'S WHAT SOME OF YOU ARE SAYING ON OUR KHQ FACEBOOK WALL

Robyn Kellie Highbarger  I agree with Kami. It's sad that this is what it has come to but I think it is necessary. A month after 9/11 my kids and I flew, they were 5/8 years old or so. I was exempt from the search at the gate because of military but my kids had to be searched. I wasn't mad. It was where the world had taken us.

Tonia Jarrett Rogers I Agree With This 100%..There Are Some Sick Individuals Out There That Wouldn`t Think Twice About Using A Baby To Smuggle Contra Band Or Anything Else...It Isnt The First Time Nor Will It Be The Last...I Say Go Ahead And Check EveryOne Including The Very Young If It Means Safety In The Air!...

Christi Barker I would rather play it safe..it seems like the mother doesn't mind anyways by the look on her face..

Stephen Hullin You know, babies are a perfect way to sneak stuff in because nobody would expect anything bad. Its better to be safe than sorry. Plus, its not like their abusing it.

Melinda Simpson there are crazy people out there that could put something on the child even if it put them in danger, truly I would rather be safe as a passenger. Nothing suprises me anymore the lengths terrorists go to cause harm to others.

Justin Nagel I would like to think it's too far, but anymore you never know what some people might do.

Amber Peightal safe then sorry :)

Talisha Cahill To far they could have mom walk through and then mom and baby then just the stroller.

Danette Delaney Lanet we experienced a similar situation at skyfest last year with the wand and our 16 month old...it sucks, but its reality.

Andy Mikoto Chan If you don't like it, don't fly. Id rather go through intense screenings than end up dead.

Keleyna Staves This has been going on for years. When my mom took me with her to drop my dad off at the spokane airport when I was two, my overalls set off the alarm and they made my mom strip me down to my diaper. Now I'm 20 and its still going on.

Nate Bergstrom sweet free rectal exam with your ticket....Sorry I think the TSA should stand for Totally Stupid Assholes. We should profile people, we should all fly in bathing suits, and all international flights should be routed to the desert incase there is a problem.

Lexi Bass You gotta be watchful these days. Y'know, them infants could definitely be drug dealers.

Jason Devaney I hope they changed the kids diaper for the mom!

Holli Oakley Not too far! Safety measures have to be taken and there are some people, American or not, that would use a child as a "carrier" of sorts. Children and babies in the eyes of most are "innocent" therefore it would seem easiest to use them. Like many of you said, "Better safe than sorry."

Kayla Leib People are sick. I wouldn't be surprised for some nutjob to strap a bomb to a baby. Id rather be safe than sorry. If people don't like it then drive. They're doing their jobs not just doing pat downs for the hell of it.

Ivory Coghlan As long as the agent was calm, polite and kept the parents involved so the baby was not scared, I don't have an issue with it. In my experience, MOST TSA agents are professional and courtieous (especially here in Spokane) but the few jerks really make everyone look bad.

Melva Roberts You never know what a parent would put in a child's diaper. If this was my child I would probably say " Thanks for your good work and protection of others" NOW if I had some thing to hide, I would be pissed.

Vickie Mc its better to be safe then sry now a days

Toni Dobson Come on TSA. Its just a cute little baby. Grow up.

Ron Simpson We all know that a terrorist profile is a "small child in diapers" ... what a joke and what a violation of our freedoms .... Anyone willing to describe any or all suspected terrorists that have tried to hijack or attack a plane in the past 20 years?

Stephanie Bheilantatp Unfortunantly the SICK & TWISTED people that want to cause others harm, will find anyway possible to succeed in this process. While it's a very thin line to cross by the TSA, I can understand in a way why noone is free from pat downs. The solution is Drive to your destination, if at all possible, other wise grin & bear it like everyone else.

Michelle Chadwick Heffley Per TSA the child has to be carried through the detector by whomever they are traveling with. They are not suppose to be wheeled through with their stroller unless childparent are physically unable to do so. If the stroller only was suspicious, check the stroller. If the correct guidelines were followed by TSA maybe this would have been avoided.

Stephanie Bheilantatp ‎@ KAMI...Our children are still innocent its the sick minded people who use their children to do harm to others.

Jon Moyles ‎"Those who trade their liberty for security deserve neither and will lose both." -Benjamin Franklin

Heather Sharp no this shouldn't be like this if they padded down my child i would take a bus.

Jennifer Loiselle I could see them doing a wand over the baby but not a pat down unless the wand indicated that there was something there.....i thought most airport security have you take the child out of the stroller before going through the metal detectors....

Talisha Cahill I can tell you this they wouldn't have been doing that to my baby. We would have found something else before your going to rub my baby down.

Danette Delaney Lanet last time i checked, there are domestic terrorists too...mcveigh, the backpack bomber, etc.. they don't fit the "profile" that many of you are suggesting. when my son was singled out at FAFB, i just shrugged my shoulders. my husband was ...with him, he was treated as he should have been and they did their jobs to protect our safety. its the world we live in now. Also, the TSA agents look like they are being nice and friendly. The baby appears to be held by its mother - I don't see any "totally stupid assholes" in this picture.

Perfect Scentsy Consultant I'm a mother of 3 and knowing what some people will do with their kids to use them for something illegal... especially if I was flying WITH my kids I would want to make sure nothing got past security. Yes it might be too far but for our safety? Would you want to fly on a plane where there's a possibility of anything dangerous on the plane? Me... absolutely not.

Jessica Swan It dont matter what it is that set off the alarm! theres people out there that would Sacrifice themselves let alone a baby to put peoples lives in danger.

Shaun Brooks no but i have seen one almost like it come on give me a breack you DUMB ASS'S that do security give other security officers a bad name when you do that crap

Jenelle Salisbury I don't think this is a violation of freedom at all. Flying on a plane is a privilege, not a right. Obviously the baby is not malevolently planning an attack, but there are some crazy parents out there - who knows. I think it would be fa...r more of a violation if TSA only searched one specific demographic - that seems like profiling to me. If they hurt the baby it would be a different story, but searches in airports are meant to help, not hurt.

Ruth Maloney People are crazy! And unfortunately they have babies too! I wouldn't put it past them to use their own kids to accomplish WHATEVER craziness they think they need to do. It is the world we live in now! Guess we gotta get used to it cuz it's only gonna get worse!! :(

Valerie Mckenna How rude

Lisa Bechtel I saw this on the news last night...they knew it was the stroller from my understanding? So, they should of let mom carry the baby through the scanner and IF the scanner went off still, then wand the baby. So, why didn't they do this?'

Karen Carlson Careful that diaper maybe loaded!

Skylor Mitchell WTF???!!! That is just as bad as, if not worse than, when they patted down that little girl. I think that they should've had a/the parent go through the scanner then had that parent turn around and grab the child to take it through the scanner, all while the stroller goes on the conveyor belt scanner to make sure that it is safe. I think that they need to re-train these people on what is right and what is wrong.

Donald Armstrong You want to thank someone? Thank Bin Laden. If TSA does not do their job, you might get a free ticket to thank him in person.

Erin Pepperman Seriously, terrorists do not value human life. ANYONE is disposable to achieve a win in their book. I have 2 young kids that have both been checked by TSA in the past. Was I upset about it. Yes, for more than the percieved allegation, but... these were my kids being pat down like a common criminals. Plus, I do not care for most TSA employees that I have dealt with. However, after taking a step back and really thinking about it, I realized that everytime they check someone man, woman or child, they are making it safer for my family to fly. Do I like it? No! It is very sad that our country has come to this point but I am willing to accept this if it means that my family will not be pawns in someone else's agenda. (read more on fb)

Michael Kaufman TSA is the biggest waste of time, money and oxygen on the planet. The general population is being treated like criminals all the while the ones who took part get a free pass! Time to do away with the TSA ans and most of the other federal offices! Support nullification, regain our states rights!
