UPDATE: Mother Of Girl Stripped Naked Speaks Out

UPDATE>>> The Kootenai Co. Sheriff has requested battery charges to be filed with the prosecutor's office.

KELLOGG, Idaho - Three students from Kellogg High School in North Idaho could face criminal charges after they stripped the clothes off of another student. That girls mother spoke exclusively to KHQ about the incident, and her side of the story.

Heidi Hershly says her 17-year-old daughter was asleep on the bus ride back from a softball game against Potlatch, when three of her teammates assaulted her and ripped her clothes off.

"They literally took her bra off, pulled her pants off, ripped her underwear off her body, left her naked, and she wrapped a blanket around herself," says the mother.

Hershly says she is furious that it took the school 3 days to notify her, and that the girls aren't being punished more harshly. She also claims the parents of the other girls are not taking the incident seriously.

"They're sweeping it under the carpet, they don't think their children did anything wrong, says Hershly." I want them to put themselves in my daughter's shoes. She's embarrassed, she's humiliated, she's afraid and doesn't want to be alone… they should be ashamed of themselves."

The school suspended the girls, kicked them off the softball team, and didn't allow them to attend prom. However, right now the girls are still enrolled in the school.

"I am demanding that those girls get expelled from school, said Hershly." "It's not fair that my daughter has to walk through the hallways and look at those girls after what they've done to her. If they learn a lesson the hard way maybe they'll think twice about doing something like this, it will keep them from making a bad decision as adults."

The three girls involved may face battery charges, which is more serious than a charge of bullying. The schools superintendent says the ongoing criminal investigation could bring further disciplinary action against the girls.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'RE SAYING ON OUR FACEBOOK WALL:

Jennifer Hamlin Ummm! Yeah! They should be expelled! This is crazy. What the hell is wrong with these girls and their parents! Stripping someone naked is ok with the parents of the kids that did it! Are you kidding me? Would they believe that was ok had it been their daughter stripped naked? I feel horrible for the girl who was assaulted and I hope she can soon find calm peace in her life!

Jenifer White I am 110% agreeing with the mother. I have kids and if it happened to my daughter i would be pissed and pressing charges.

Julie Peterson I would be livid too!

Jennifer Burns that is just unbelieveable I had things happen to me also but nothing like that wow

Melissa Dobeas That's not right at all! poor girl:(

Jessica Hammel Charges should be pressed on all involved. If that was my daughter I wouldnt stop till justice is served!

Martina Campbell I agree with that mother that they should be expelled from school. So they miss the prom...big freakin deal! The pain of that is nothing compaired to the embarassment and humiliation that this poor girl is going through. You know this is go...ing to spread through the school gossip like wile fire and she will be teased and taunted by those rotten girls friends. Not only should they face battery charges, but rape charges as well. They stripped her naked in public for pete sakes and left her there. I hope the judge throws the book at them. What the hell is wrong with those girls parents! Prayers to this poor girl and her mother and family that have to deal with this. No teenager should have to deal with something like this. (read more on facebook)

Sassyblonde Inwashington that was pervy thats for sure they need counseling.

Jenifer White As a mother of kids that go to school in this school district i am pissed. I am thinking about not letting my kids to go to school here.

Mary Hertz Payne I bet if the other students were boys that did that to her, they'd be kicked out, would have been taken into custody and faced charges in the juvenile system

Martina Campbell Expelling them from the prom is nothing! They deserve alot more then that as I stated above!!

Melissa Dobeas Very pervy and boardelie rapey! those girls who ripped her clothes off need some counselling for sure.

Tammy Shaffer i would of done the samething if it was my daughter..

Judy Ostrom Some kids...including teenagers need a serious arse whooping! Especially these 3...and maybe a couple days at Juvenile Hall!!!

Cheryl Eckhart I think that those girls should definitely be charged with a serious crime and be suspended from school. Why didn't the bus driver do anything? Where were the adults? There is usually a coach, assistant coach or some adult supervision besides the bus driver. What were the other girls doing? Why didn't they try to stop those monsters.

Jessica Hammel It shouldnt matter if it was boys or girls....they should still be expelled and charged with something. I would not allow my daughter to go to a school where they dont take action.

Joshua Brunson Really Kari? Ummmm....how do I even respond to that? Wow! Super sad story. Kids do some of the most screwed up stuff. They should be expelled for sure.

Emily Norton I pity the child who bullies my children. I'm cheering this mother on for taking a stand for her child!!

Mahala Collins I've been a victim of bullying as a teen and had to be homeschooled, so this is horrible. I think they should be expelled too and we should be emailing the principle demanding he do the right thing.

Linda Butler Gearheart They should be getting sexual harrassment charges as well.

Jamie Warn ‎@Kari Really? we are talking about a girl getting her clothes torn off and ur worried on grammatical errors? KHQ Local News yes I think not being able to go to the prom is very appropriate, Prom is a privilege of HS students not a right.

Martina Campbell Hey as Cheryl stated,..why did't the bus driver do anything? Where the hell was the bus driver and the other students? Bus drivers are not suppose to leave students on the bus like that are they?

Beth Fields If someone had done that to my daughter...someone would be sittin in jail right now.....me!!

Lynnette Perry Khq, no being expelled from prom is not going a little far, they deserve a lot worse. I can not imagine how humiliated and degraded that poor girl was. Does anyone know why these girls did this? I think they definitely need some serious counseling.

Kari Tridle@Joshua by "good stuff" I didn't mean to display that what the girls did was good. And I think proper grammar is important.

Christina Ross There is no way in HELL that my child would ever get away with something like this... These parents of the girls that did it need to ask themselves how they would feel if their daughter was humiliated and assaulted like this.. Absolutely disgusting and completely appalling that they are essentially getting away with this... Totally out of control.

Martina Campbell Really Kari...I agree with Joshua here on that one..how do you respond to that othe then...who gives a rats ass about the spelling and grammer on this. I think you completely missed the point here.

Jenifer White As a person who has had a similar case at the SAME high school, i was the abused and i got the punishment. The other kids got to go to prom and graduate. I did not. I feel for this girl and her parents. Kellogg high school is a joke. They do not know how to handle issues.

T.c. Skipper those girls should be expelled!

Martina Campbell Jenifer you should contact the news team here and have them do your story on this. Also contact the mother of the victim and call that school and tell them you heard about this and what happened to you. Let that school know that this is not... ok and that you have spoke with the media. Maybe if they see enough bad publicity getting out about this kind of crap they will do something in this case. It might help give you some peace of mind to know that at least the hell you went through was not just in vain if telling your story will help someone else. Not to mention put that school in it's place!

Esther Sammons The adults that were present were negligent in my opinion. This was assault, a criminal act. Banned from prom is a pittance of a sentence. Were any of the perpetraters 18? They can go to jail for that. I'm not sure how this could get that far in such an enclosed and supervised space as a bus though. Is like more details. Isn't there video evidence?

Mahala Collins Anyone wanna call Kellog Highschool and tell them the kids need expelled here is the phone number that I found online (public info) 208-784-1371 (Phone) Principles name is Wayne Pfeifer

Amy Brady My daughter goes to this district in the elementary school. Shes been bullied and picked on by the same group for 3 yrs now and i cant get them to do anything. This will be her last yr there. She will go to wallace next yr.

Risha Crider if this is the action of high school girls what will it escalate to in their adult lives...this action is right up there with bully a person to the point of suicide ...do people not realize the damage that has more than likely been done to this girl...and the bus driver...talk about eyes wide shut!
