Ahhh, Banks Lake! Dad and I hooked into some nice Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass there last week. Warming water temperatures are key this time of year for catching those bass as they head for the shallows and begin to make their beds. Click on the picture for the full story...>>

I spent yesterday Northern Pike fishing on a 15 mile stretch of the Pend Oreille River from south of Usk, through Cusick, and north toward Ruby. There were a few empty trailers at the Cusick boat launch and the boats on the river appeared to be doing the same thing we were…>>
A typical opening day on this lake (2007 photo) can be quite busy, but a few weeks later, the fishing pressure relaxes quite a bit. This year is much the same....It's was a beautiful spring day on West Medical Lake and I'm trying to hook into one of the 2150 large trout plants within this serene, 230-acre body of water...>>
A quick trip out to Clear Lake (my 3rd this month) on a very mild Saturday morning was just what the fishing doctor ordered. It's been a week since the grand "Kids Fishing" event and an estimated 9000 lucky/uncaught trout were released...>>

Let's start with the fact that spring is in full bloom and the lakes have thawed out… that means there's a little fishing to be done. I'm there, Baby! I'm looking forward to sharing experiences, ideas, and yes…a few opinions in the b'LAWgs that lie ahead.>>
Spring Salmon fishing opened on April 23rd, and they have been running up the Clearwater River in decent numbers since the middle of May. Fish ladder counts at Ice Harbor and Lower Monumental Dams have been showing steady numbers of migrating Chinooks since the 1st week of May through this posting (Memorial Day Weekend). Now, the season is regulated by the projected salmon migration and harvest, so it could close shortly.
I want to thank Mike Jarrett for sharing some "nice photos" from his trip last week…"Sweet 26lb & 18lb Brights, Mike!" He said they were caught using a diver and cured roe. I wish I could get down there, but I'll probably have to wait until the fall run…sigh.
