DIALED IN: Baldwin Focuses on NOW, Has Long-Term Goals at EWU

When will Eastern Washington bury the national championship and focus solely on this year? Don't worry, about it, said head coach Beau Baldwin.

Coach Baldwin sat down with SWX's Sam Adams this week and spoke candidly about last year's championship season, the team's focus in fall camp this year, and what keeps him motivated. He doesn't worry that last year's success will distract this year's squad, and that he welcomes the target that every one of their opponents will slap on their back.

Last year's game against Weber State was a turning point of the season, Baldwin said. He said that comeback win solidified the Eagles as a team and allowed them to push on

"We were 2-2 in that game and had just lost the most dynamic player in the country in Taiwan Jones the week before at Montana State and we were playing a very good Weber State team on the road. That was where I think we really came together as a team."

Did Baldwin get lucrative offers to leave EWU? The short answer: no. Baldwin says he has long-term goals for Eastern Washington, and he doesn't concern himself with whether or not he will get a call from another suitor.
