Local Red Cross Deploying Volunteers To Help With Hurricane Irene

KHQ.COM - The Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently deploying five local volunteers to assist with disaster relief operations along the east seaboard as Hurricane Irene approaches. Three of those volunteers have been assigned to New Jersey, one to Virginia and another to Rhode Island. The local Red Cross Emergency Service Director is anticipating being deployed to New York, but that assignment has not been confirmed as of yet. These volunteers will primarily be assisting in Red Cross shelters. These deployments should last approximately three weeks.

The American Red Cross has asked that all deploying volunteers try to arrive on the East Coast no later than 10am Eastern time Saturday as they is concern about the affects Irene will have on travel.

    COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Idaho State Police are asking for help identifying a bicyclist killed in hit and run crash on I-90 late Tuesday evening. The crash occurred shortly before 10pm Tuesday on I-90 at milepost 15.5 in Coeur d'Alene. According to Idaho State Police, an unknown vehicle struck a person on a bicycle in the westbound lane of travel.
