Early Morning Standoff In The Gonzaga District Lands One In Jail

SPOKANE, Wash. - A late night robbery turned into an early morning standoff that left one man behind bars Wednesday morning.

Spokane Police say at approximately 10:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of an armed robbery outside a home near Nevada and Euclid. First reports say two men approached two women who were walking on Nevada.

One man, allegedly armed with a handgun, then demanded the women's purses.  When officers arrived one man ran back inside the apartment, and the other man was detained for a short time. After several hours 24-year-old Jeffrey C. Salvage surrendered to police and was arrested for 1st degree robbery.

A search warrant was also executed for the apartment. The apartment manager told KHQ's Blake Jensen that a gun was found in the apartment during the search, but police would not confirm that.

Right now an investigation is ongoing, we'll keep you informed on what we uncover and you can get the latest information here on khq.com throughout the day and also during our 5 and 6 PM newscasts.
