DEVELOPING: Three Arson Fires In Spokane Valley

PRESS RELEASE FROM SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE DEPT: Firefighters in the Spokane Valley responded to three separate fires between 2 AM and 4 AM. Each of the fires was intentionally set. Mako, the Department's accelerant detection dog, was used and accelerants were found at each fire scene.

The first fire was reported at 2:13 AM and was located in the 11600 block of E. 19th Ave. Fire was set to a row of tall bushes in front of a home. The home was not damaged.

The second fire was reported at 2:50 AM and was located in the 14600 block of E. Cataldo Ave. Fire was set to a 2004 Mazda sedan, and the vehicle is likely to be a total loss.

The third fire was reported at 3:51 AM and was located in the 4300 block of S. Ball Dr. Fire was set to tall weeds and grass along Ball Dr.

Anyone with information regarding these arson fires is encouraged to call Crime Check at 456-2233 or the Spokane Valley Fire Department at 928-1700. A reward may be available if an arrest and conviction is made.

    A man, claiming to be "the spawn of Lucifer," said he stabbed an eight-year-old boy because he "felt like he had to kill a child" and that it was "almost like a sacrifice." 30-year-old Bruce Derek Landahl was arrested Saturday for allegedly entering the HiCo store on Sprague, walking up to an eight-year-old boy playing on an iPad and stabbing him multiple times before the boy's father was able to stop him.

    SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A 30-year-old male is facing attempted murder charges after stabbing an eight-year-old boy at a HiCo store in Spokane Valley Saturday night. Around 4:30 p.m, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a call of two males fighting along with the reported stabbing.
