UPDATE FROM SPOKANE FIRE: The SIU has determined that Sunday night's fire started between the Milk Bottle Restaurant and Ferguson's Café in an open area. The open area is wide enough to walk between the buildings. There was a large volume of ordinary combustibles (cardboard, plastics, etc) on the ground level up against the Milk Bottle restaurant. The fire started at the ground level in the above mentioned items. The fire reached a ground level natural gas meter which intensified the fire growth.

At this point in the investigation, it is simply too early to state a cause with the amount of work that remains. *Media, I am in training all day but will return your call or email as soon as possible if you have specific questions or needs. Cause : Under investigation Damage : Ferguson's Café is completely destroyed. The Milk Bottle Restaurant has many levels of damage and is still being assessed for structural integrity. Cost estimates from the fire are still being tabulated but the total is expected to be above $1,000,000.

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Milk Bottle, one of the Garland Districts most historic landmarks, was engulfed in flames Sunday night.

Spokane firefighters received the call at about 8:45 Sunday night. Upon arrival, the flames were so intense, they could not make entry and had to fight the blaze from the outside. The flames ended up spreading to Ferguson's Cafe next door, however crews say the fire did not spread beyond those two buildings.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time, officials say a loud explosion was heard before the building caught fire.

ST. MARIES, Idaho - In a windy, but quiet family-friendly neighborhood, it seems like everyone had a personal connection with a certain whitetail deer. “From the mailman, to the Avista guys to the contractors doing work on the homes and all the neighbors,” Mia Suchoski said. Mia Suchoski called the deer “Bucky” while her neighbors Donna and Doug Smeltzer called it “Baby.”
