Knox Trial: Appeals Court Sees Graphic Photos

PERUGIA, Italy (AP) - Gruesome photos of a British student slain in Italy were shown in court in the appeals trial of Amanda Knox, who has been convicted of the murder.

The photos showed the semi-naked body of the 21-year-old victim, Meredith Kercher, her face and throat covered in blood. Silence fell on the courtroom. Knox glanced at one point, but mainly seemed to keep her head down while the graphic images were being shown.

A lawyer for the Kercher family said Monday he was showing the photos to remind the court that "we're not in a TV show."

Knox and co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering Kercher while studying in Perugia in 2007. Knox was sentenced to 26 years, Sollecito to 25. They deny wrongdoing and are appealing.
