Knox Getting Readjusted To Life At Home; But Legal Fight May Not Be Over

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE (AP) - Amanda Knox is spending her first full day back home in Seattle, two days after her release from a prison in Italy, where her conviction in the death of her roommate four years ago was overturned on Monday.

Her father says Knox would like to return to the University of Washington at some point to finish her degree -- but he says he's worried about the effect that four years of prison may have had on her. He says the focus is on "Amanda's well-being and getting her re-associated with just being a regular person again."

After arriving in Seattle late yesterday, Knox was in tears as she told supporters, "Thank you for being there for me." She said she was "really overwhelmed" to be home.

The legal fight isn't over. Prosecutors say they will appeal the acquittals to Italy's highest criminal court. If the high court overturns Monday's ruling, prosecutors would be free to ask that Knox be extradited. It would be up to Italy's government to decide whether to make the formal extradition request. Knox's father says, "Obviously, we'll fight it to the end."
