Suspect Caught In Overnight Arson Fires In Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - On Wednesday at 12:41 AM firefighter's responded to three dumpsters on fire behind the businesses located at 13817 E. Sprague Ave. and 20 N. Evergreen Rd.

The fires were reported by someone driving by the area who stated two of the dumpsters were on fire behind Fantastic Sam's Hair Salon and another dumpster was on fire behind Auto Zone Auto Parts Store.

The fires were quickly extinguished and contained to the dumpsters. At 9:00 AM, investigators received information that another fire had occurred to some bushes at the Numerica Credit Union located at 14610 E. Sprague Ave. just a few blocks away from the dumpster fires. The only fire damage was to the bushes. Total damages to the dumpsters and bushes are $1,700.


A 15-year-old male suspect has been detained and admitted to lighting the fires and stealing a bicycle in Liberty Lake. He will be charged with four counts of 2nd Degree Arson and one count of 3rd Degree Theft.

If anyone in the Liberty lake area is missing a ten-speed style bicycle, you are encouraged to call the Spokane Valley Fire Department at 509-928-1700 and describe the bicycle.
