Spokane Mayor To Dedicate New Business Help Center In City Hall

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Mayor Mary Verner will dedicate a new Business Help Center on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 11:30 a.m. on the first floor of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The center is designed to help owners and managers of new and existing businesses gain access to a variety of business resources from the City and other partners and to navigate permitting and other City processes.

"We are working to make it easier for new businesses to get off the ground and existing businesses to thrive," says Mayor Mary Verner. "My focus this year has been on helping the economy grow and create jobs, and the Business Help Center is part of those efforts."

The Business Help Center is being launched one year after the City completed a survey of small business owners and held a listening and learning session to go over the results.

The Center will connect businesses with resources to help with startups as well as growth and expansion of existing, seasoned businesses.  Among other things, the center will:

  • Provide self-help information including a current listing of business workshops and networking events.
  • Connect businesses with partner organizations that can help with business planning, marketing, counseling, and capital.
  • Provide a resource guide on startup information and business development assistance. This information also will be attached to every business license mailed and each on-line license application.

KHQ.COM - Cards Against Humanity is known for unique stunts around this time of year. In years past, in an effort to combat Black Friday, they've had people send them $5 and literally sent nothing in return. Just like they said they would.  They've also mailed people poop in a box. 30,000 bought it.  They've even raised $100,000 to dig a giant hole in the ground.
