House Fire In N. Spokane County

KHQ.COM - On Tuesday morning fire crews in Spokane County responded to a structure fire at 25724 N. Monroe in north Spokane County. Firefighters say only one woman was inside of the home when the fire broke out. There's only minimal damage being reported and there are no injuries. There's no word on what may have caused the fire.

(AP) - Authorities say a Northern California firefighter was mauled in the face by a pit bull after helping extinguish a house fire.    The East Bay Times reports Alameda County Fire Battalion Chief John Whiting received "extremely severe facial damage" in the attack Saturday in San Leandro.    Division Chief Alan Evans says Whiting required extensive reconstructive surgery.

    MEDINA, Ohio (AP) - Police say a 6-month-old girl found unresponsive in a car at a park in Ohio and has died.    Medina police say the baby was found unresponsive shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday in a car at Ray Mellert Park in the city about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Cleveland. Medina police said that the girl was transported to a hospital, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.
