Chad Chalich, the human highlight reel from Coeur d'Alene High, has an offer in hand to play football at the University of Idaho. And so does his favorite target, receiver Deon Watson.
News of the scholarship offers were confirmed by SWX on Tuesday.
Chalich also has preferred walk-on offers from Boise State and Utah. A BSU blog quoted the senior as saying the Broncos were highly committed to a recruit from Florida, and Utah was intent on getting a star QB from California. Montana is also showing more interest as of late, the blog stated
As for Watson, he has a decision to make. The son of a former University of Idaho basketball standout by the same name, he has to decide whether he wants to play football or basketball. He has football offers from Washington State and Idaho, but is likely to get offers to play hoops as well.
Coeur d'Alene, the reigning Idaho state champion, hosts Capital Friday night in the 5A playoffs. The Vikings are a perfect 10-0 this season.
If the Vikings win on Friday they could face a team led by another talented D-I quarterback, Tanner Mangum, from Eagle High School. Mangum made a name for himself at the Elite 11 Camp featured on ESPN and has a firm commitment to BYU. Mangum and Chalich have put up almost identical numbers and both are identical size-wise.
Eagle hosts Highland (Pocatello) Friday night, with the winner advancing to the 5A title game against the winner between Coeur d'Alene and Capital.
