Trucker Rescues Boy Wandering On E. Wash. Highway

ELTOPIA, Wash. (AP) - A 4-year-old boy who wandered away from his aunt's house near Eltopia and crossed four lanes of Highway 395 is home safe thanks to a Portland trucker who looks a little like Santa Claus.

The Washington State Patrol says the boy ran about a mile away from the home Tuesday afternoon while his aunt was taking a shower.

Tri-City Herald reports he was in the median, about 20 miles north of Pasco, when trucker Dan Barton spotted him.

Barton says the boy was running away from other vehicles but came to him when he waved the boy over. Barton says it could be because of his beard and glasses. People say he looks like Santa.

Barton called 911. Child Protective Services reunited the boy with his family.
