The Salvation Army Distributes More Than 6,700 Thanksgiving Meals

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Salvation Army has made Thanksgiving extra special for 6,700 Spokane area families.  Of those families, 19,729 people will be fed.  The Salvation Army's 600+ volunteers handed out a turkey dinner every 7 seconds.

The prepackaged meal with all the Thanksgiving fixings included a turkey, bag of potatoes, yams, rolls from Franz, butter, peas, stuffing… and the list goes on.

The Salvation Army expected to provide dinners to those in need until 8pm Tuesday night but had to close its doors early after running out of turkeys and food.

The Salvation Army was also able to sign up thousands of families for this seasons Toys for Tots program.

The Salvation thanks the following:  Tom's Turkey Tuesday, Rosauers, Franz Bakery, Rockwood, Second Harvest, Numerica Credit Union.
