BUSINESS NEWS: Boeing Rejects Spokane Bid For New Plant

SPOKESMAN.COM - Spokane apparently has been passed over for a new Boeing manufacturing plant, according to published reports.

The Seattle Times, citing unnamed sources, reported that a deal between Boeing and the Machinists Union was struck to insure the aircraft is built in the Seattle suburb of Renton, where the manufacturer already has large facilities.

Spokane and Renton were considered the top contenders for the manufacturing work, which also was being sought by several other cities and states.

This morning's announcement in Seattle came as Spokane-area economic development boosters urged greater efforts on the West Plains to help land the plant.
