REPORT: 5-Year-Old Child Sexually Assaulted In Shoshone County

SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho - A 19-year-old Kingston male is accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old in Shoshone County. He's identified as Reid Louis Yergler. Yergler is charged with lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under the age of 16, a felony.

Shoshone county prosecutor Val Siegel is taking himself off the case due to a "conflict of interest" because Yergler's father is a Kellogg police officer whom he knows "well."

Shoshone county judge Daniel McGee sealed all documents involving the case, including police reports.

Shoshone county sheriff deputies tell KHQ's Dylan Wohlenhaus that they learned of the alleged acts from a local human services organization, but wouldn't say which one.

We called Yergler's home and spoke with his father, he politely declined to comment but did say, "this is the first I've ever heard of this, I'm not the one involved I'm just the dad."

Yergler does not have previous criminal record. Yergler could face up to life in prison for each count.

This report was filed by KHQ Local News reporter Dylan Wohlenhaus
