UPDATE: Kingston Man Accused Of Sexual Assault

SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho - A 19-year-old Kingston male is accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old in Shoshone County. He's identified as Reid Louis Yergler. Yergler is charged with lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under the age of 16, a felony.

Shoshone County Idaho-The alleged sex abuse case has been sent to the Idaho attorney generals office. The office tells KHQ that it has not decided who or if it will take on the case. Shoshone county prosecutors say no matter what the decision is from the Attorney General's office the case will be prosecuted.

Shoshone county prosecutor Val Siegel is taking himself off the case due to a "conflict of interest" because Yergler's father is a Kellogg police officer whom he knows "well." Shoshone county judge Daniel McGee sealed all documents involving the case, including police reports. Shoshone county sheriff deputies tell KHQ's Dylan Wohlenhaus that they learned of the alleged acts from a local human services organization, but wouldn't say which one.

We called Yergler's home and spoke with his father, he politely declined to comment but did say, "this is the first I've ever heard of this, I'm not the one involved I'm just the dad." Yergler does not have previous criminal record.

Yergler could face up to life in prison for each count. After we requested a jailhouse interview with Yergler he told authorities "I'm not talking to anyone". We also contacted multiple family members but messages have not been returned.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It's been nearly one week since Washington voters passed Initiative 1639, a sweeping package of stricter gun regulations - particularly for semiautomatic rifles. While the measure raises the minimum age to purchase semiautomatic rifles to 21, creates enhanced background checks, and forces customers to wait 10 days before taking possession of the firearm, I-1639 lays the framework for "safe storage" of semiautomatic rifles
