SPOKANE, Wash. - The driver of a city garbage truck was cited for failure to stop after slamming into a pickup Friday morning in northeast Spokane. Fortunately neither driver was seriously injured.
It happened shortly after 6:30. According to police, the driver of the garbage truck was heading south on Hamilton and struck a Ford F-250 that was traveling east on Indiana.
According to SPD, the driver of the garbage truck told investigators he was adjusting his 2-way radio just before entering the intersection and did notice the light was cycling to red. The force of the crash pushed the pickup for several yards into a median.
Despite the fact that a portion of the garbage truck ended up inside the pickup truck, the driver of the pickup limped away from the crash with only a minor leg injury. The driver of the garbage truck suffered a minor head injury.
