MEAD, Wash. - Mt. Spokane High School was awarded with a $2000 scholarship today by Darigold through Second Harvest Food Bank's "Tackle Hunger Campaign."
Mt. Spokane won out over several other area high schools by raising more than $1500 for the food bank through various fundraisers throughout the fall. In winning the competition, two Mt. Spokane teachers fulfilled their promise to have their legs waxed at a school assembly today.
The scholarship will go to the school's DECA program, a business and marketing club, whose members lead the fundraising effort. In all, local high schools raised more than $5000 for Second Harvest.
