Freak Car Accident Happened At Hotel

AOL.COM - New York DJ Jonathan Toubin is in serious condition after being hit by a cab while in Portland, Ore. But the circumstances surrounding the actual crash are extremely odd. According to the Oregonian, the DJ had spun a set earlier in the evening at a Southeast Portland club.

At some point in the night, Toubin returned to his room at the Juniper Hotel and would later be awakened by the horrific surprise. A local call placed into 911 at 10:54AM on Dec. 8 described that a taxi cab had plowed through the side of the hotel and had driven into a room.

"This is way ugly," Officer Stuart Palmiter radioed back to police. "I saw a cab was buried in the room," he told the Oregonian after the incident. The black-and-white Radio Cab had driven directly through a bamboo bush and into Room 115. The car reportedly drove right on top of Toubin, who was still in bed.

The taxi became stuck in the room and had to by lifted off of the DJ by three hotel maintenance men and Officer Palmiter. Toubin was semi-conscious and able to move his hands and Investigators report that the 52-year-old cab driver, Terry L. Uding, had come to the hotel to pick up a fare before he crashed into the hotel. Paramedics say Uding had low blood sugar at the scene and probably suffered a diabetic medical emergency.

There will be two benefit concerts for Toubin at both Motor City and Home Sweet Home in New York City on Friday night, Dec. 9. Toubin's family has now set up a PayPal account at ihearttoubin@gmail.com where you can send donations directly to the DJ.

gs, but with limited mobility. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.

"As he was carried into an ambulance, he was able to talk, but completely covered in blood," Lt. Rich Tyler said of the DJ. The car had apparently pinned Toubin against his hotel room wall.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It's been nearly one week since Washington voters passed Initiative 1639, a sweeping package of stricter gun regulations - particularly for semiautomatic rifles.
