NEW DETAILS: Teen Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 5-Year-Old

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - After Shoshone County prosecutor Val Siegel forwarded an alleged sexual abuse case to the Idaho Attorney General the case will now be prosecuted by Kootenai County prosecutor Barry Mchugh.

19-year old Reid Louis Yergler is accused of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 16. The criminal  report filed shows Yergler is accused of having sexual contact with a 5-year old girl. The case was sent to Kootenai county because Yergler's father, Gary is a Kellogg police officer and his uncle Larry Yergler is a Shoshone county commissioner. County prosecutor Siegel said it would be a "conflict of interest" if he were to handle the case.

Yergler is still in the Shoshone county jail under a 250 thousand dollars bail. He faces life in prison if convicted. There is no set date for a preliminary trial and all court documents including police reports remain sealed by a Shoshone county judge.

Kootenai county prosecutor Barry McHugh could not comment specifically on the case but says "We handle other counties cases frequently as do other counties handle ours, outside cases are just like what we deal with in the county."
