LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) - Police in George say they had to break a car window to get two toddlers out after a woman went into a store to buy the new Nike Air Jordan basketball shoes at a suburban Atlanta shopping mall.
DeKalb County police say the woman was taken into custody when she returned to the car.
The release of Nike's retro Air Jordans caused a frenzy at stores across the nation early today.
A Portland, Ore., newspaper (The Oregonian) reports the shoe's appeal is only partly nostalgia for the former NBA star. Collectors known as "sneakerheads" save them for special occasions or never take them out of the box.
