The Spokane County Library District has a variety of Storytime Programs for young children at their libraries. While the winter winds blow outside, you can enjoy these programs with your child at the library!
The Spokane County Library District has a program for the youngest readers and their parents or caregivers called "Baby Lapsit." It's 20 minutes of nursery rhymes, songs and stories that introduce babies to the rhythm and beauty of language, all while sitting on an adults lap. Baby Lapsit is designed to build a foundation and a life long love of books. Designed for babies ages up to 18 months with an adult.
Toddler Storytime is designed for ages 1 1/2 to 3. It's a 20-minute program of simple picture books, flannel board story, or a puppet.
Toddler Play and Learn Storytime- Toddlers ages 1 ½ to age three can enjoy simple stories for 20 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of activities introducing math concepts, science and literacy.
Storytime: Children ages 2 to 5 have their own storytime with new and familiar stories, songs and poems that help broaden their horizons in this 30 minute storytime.
Play and Learn Storytime- Ages 2-5- An hour of fun stories, songs and activities that explore math, science, art, and literacy.
Preschool Play and Learn Storytime- for ages 3 through 5, an hour of fun for preschoolers, with stories, songs, and art activities plus preschool level concepts in math, science and literacy.
Family Play & Learn Story Evening- Designed for kids of all ages and their adults! Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal or blanket.
