Multiple DUI Crashes On I-90 Overnight

SPOKANE, Wash. - Two women were injured in two separate DUI crashes on I-90 overnight.

The first accident happened near the Hamilton exit just before midnight. Washington State Patrol says 24-year-old Spokane Valley resident Heather Upton was traveling eastbound on I-90 when she left the roadway and struck the rock wall and a street light. The cause of the crash is being listed as excessive speed and DUI.

Just over an hour later, police say 36-year-old Spokane resident Melissa Richardson was traveling westbound on I-90 in her 2003 Hyundai when she left the roadway while exiting at Broadway. Troopers say she rolled her vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown at this time. Troopers are listing the cause of the crash as DUI.
