SLIDESHOW: Police Chase In Northwest Spokane Ends With Crash

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash - Right now a man is in police custody after a police chase early Thursday morning near Garland and Cannon in northwest Spokane.

Police told KHQ's Blake Jensen that the chase started at 2:20 a.m. after officers received multiple calls about shots fired in the area of Atlantic and Waverly Place. Officers responded to the area and attempted to pull over the driver of a white sedan matching the description given by witnesses, when the car sped off.

The suspect is identified as 29-year-old Salvador Jose Lazalde. While being pursued by police, Lazalde flipped his car just north of Garland and Cannon. According to police the suspect was complaining of injuries to his neck so he was transported to the hospital. Police say he will be charged with attempting to elude police.

There could be more charges if police determine the reports of shots fired are linked back to Lazalde.

KHQ is also told that Lazalde has a warrant for theft of a motor vehicle with which he is also expected to be charged.
