WINTER DRIVING: 6 Trucks, 1 WSP Car Pile Up

Posted: Updated:

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) - The Washington State Patrol says a truck driver will likely be charged with driving too fast for conditions for plowing into a Washington State Patrol car near Snoqualmie Pass at Easton.

The trooper was out of his car at the time Thursday enforcing chain-up requirements in the snow. Five more trucks were unable to stop and collided with the other vehicles.

The Daily Record reports three truck drivers were taken to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two of the trucks were hauling hazardous materials, including an explosive and a corrosive. Nothing leaked, but it complicated the accident, which tied up traffic for nearly eight hours. (Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press.  All Rights Reserved.)
