SCAM ALERT: Grant County Sheriff Warns Of Email Scam

EPHRATA, Wash. – Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones today warns the public about a recent email scam which tries to glean personal information from citizens.

The email poses to be from Intuit, and seeks a recipient's social security number. The email claims Intuit is working in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service.

According to Intuit, this email is a scam and recipients should delete the email immediately. Intuit maintains a webpage for the public to reference if they receive a questionable email. Click on http://security.intuit.com/security-alerts.php.

"We want to help citizens protect their identities and personal information," said Sheriff Tom Jones. "The public should never disclose personal information over email."
